As part of our ongoing review of campground policies and common areas, we are updating the use of the Seasonal Community Fire Pit.

Since opening the Seasonal Community Fire Pit, we have been operating based on our understanding of the applicable requirements. Following a further review of our legal obligations, insurance requirements, and the terms of our License of Occupation, we have determined that additional restrictions are necessary to ensure the area is operated appropriately.

Effective immediately, the Seasonal Community Fire Pit is not available for general use and will be opened only for campground-organized events or during a Restricted Fire Zone (fire ban) for seasonal guests whose campsite fire pits cannot be used due to the restrictions in effect.

We would also like to remind everyone that, in accordance with our Park Rules, License of Occupation, and applicable Ontario legislation, alcohol is prohibited in all communal areas of the campground. As a result, the Seasonal Community Fire Pit is an alcohol-free area at all times, including during campground-organized events and while it is available for use during a Restricted Fire Zone.

Guests wishing to consume alcohol may continue to do so only at their own registered campsite or while visiting another registered campsite as an invited guest, in accordance with the Park Rules and License of Occupation. When transporting alcohol between registered campsites, all alcoholic beverages must remain closed and unopened while travelling through roads or other common areas. Open alcoholic beverages may not be carried or consumed outside a registered campsite.

After carefully reviewing our legal obligations, insurance requirements, and operating policies, these changes are necessary to protect both our guests and the campground while ensuring our policies remain consistent and enforceable.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and cooperation as we move forward with these updates. Thank you for helping us keep Lazy Rock a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.

Hello Campers!

August 15th Seasonal Fire and  Hot Dog Roast! 

Here’s how it works:

 We’ll supply the hot dogs and buns! (No artisanal crazy hot dogs or buns required!)
Bring your own toppings, sauces, seasonings, or other creative additions to turn your hot dog into your masterpiece!

 Your hot dog must be cooked/roasted over the fire.
How you cook it is entirely up to you! Roasting sticks will be provided, or feel free to bring your own cooking tools – it just has to be cooked over the fire!

 Entries will be judged on three things:

• Looks – How appetizing and well-presented is it?
• Creativity – How original, fun, or unique is it?
• Flavour – Does it actually taste good?

Everyone gets to be a judge!

All of the finished hot dogs will be displayed together so everyone can score them for Looks and Creativity.

Then we’ll cut each entry into bite-sized pieces for everyone to sample and score for Flavour. Tasting any entry is completely optional, but an entry that isn’t tasted receives 0 Flavour points from that judge – so making something people actually want to try is part of the challenge!

You can’t score your own hot dog!

At the end, we’ll tally up the scores and crown our 2026 Campfire Hot Dog Champion! 

Get creative, make it delicious, make it ridiculous, and most importantly, have some fun with it!

Prizes!

1st Place: Lazy Rock Hoodie!
2nd Place: Choice of canoe, magnetic paddle, fridge magnet, leather keychain or bumper sticker souvenir.
3rd Place: Choice of magnetic paddle or fridge magnet.

LOO Update

Extensive updates have been completed on your upcoming LOO for 2027, these updates clarify the language used in the document, remove redundancy in the document and overall make it easier to read and understand. Your LOO for 2027 will go out on September 1st as usual. 😀

Park Phase Two Planning in the works!

You may notice some strange markers, people, and flags popping up around the park, or even catch us wandering onto your site with a tape measure! 

Don’t panic, we’re not bulldozing your site! RELAX! 

We’re simply doing some early measuring, mapping, and planning as we work through ideas for Phase Two of the park. You may see us poking around different areas from time to time as we figure out what may (or may not!) be possible.

Nothing is changing overnight, we’re just planning, measuring, and exploring possibilities for the future!

So far phase two LOOKS AWESOME and we are super excited to be finally working on it. 😀

Hi Campers!

We just wanted to send out a quick email about our visitor process. Nothing has really changed for you lovely campers, but we realized not everyone is familiar with the process, as outlined in the park rules. We’ve also updated the way we track visitors, so please be patient with us while we work through a few kinks. <3

As always we ask visitors to check in at the office. This helps us ensure that we know who’s on the property for everyone’s safety. The first time a guest visits you, we will need a waiver signed and vehicle information. Once we have this information, they are not required to re-sign for the remainder of the season. They are simply required to check in at the office, update their vehicle information if anything changed, and pay the visitors fee, or put it on your account at your request. Super quick process and they can get to enjoying the park like we hope you guys do all season long 😀

During very busy weekends, we may not have available parking should you want to bring multiple visitors’ vehicles. We will do our best to accommodate and make room, but sometimes it just won’t be possible, and we may have to ask guests to park in some unconventional places.

Last but not least, if you don’t have a copy of our park handout, please grab one from the office. You never know, you might find something interesting that you weren’t aware of! Plus, there’s a QR code that gets you directly to our Message Us program, where you can send us messages throughout the day if you have questions or concerns, or just want to say hi! =P After hours, it also alerts us to urgent concerns, such as noise complaints or issues with other guests, to help ensure we don’t miss anything important.

Due to the rising costs associated with sewage disposal, we’ve had to make a small adjustment to our dump service pricing. We never like increasing prices, but if you enjoy resting, relaxing & recharging here, we’ve got to keep the lights on and the bills paid. =P

*All prices listed are before tax

New Dump Service Prices
• 1 tank – $10
• 2 tanks – $15
• 3 tanks – $20

Emergency Dump Service Prices
• 1 tank – $20
• 2 tanks – $30
• 3 tanks – $40

As always, dumping your own personal dump cart remains just $6 per tank, available at your convenience.

Seasonal Fire & Weenie Roast-Off – New Date: August 15th

First, we’d like to take this opportunity to let everyone know about a small change to our seasonal event schedule.

We’ve decided that July is simply too busy for us to properly host an event, with Canada Day weekend, Voyageur Days, the Civic Holiday, and the regular peak summer camping season all packed into a short stretch. Rather than trying to squeeze something in, we’d rather wait until things slow down a little so everyone can enjoy it.

We apologize for the change and look forward to seeing everyone at our August 15th event, where we’ll once again face off in friendly competition… only this time, instead of marshmallows, it’ll be Best Weenie Wins! 

Power Outages

Due to the number of power outages we’ve experienced recently, we’ve decided to make a few changes to how we operate during extended power outages.

• Shower House Generator: If a power outage lasts 12 hours or longer, a generator will be installed at the shower house to keep the showers operating between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
• Lighting Upgrades: We’re also working on connecting the shower house and bathroom lighting to generator power. Once that work is complete, the shower facilities will be available 24 hours a day during extended outages.
• Overnight Generator Use: During extended power outages, quiet RV-style generators will be permitted overnight. This exception is being made to help accommodate guests with health and safety needs, such as those who rely on CPAP machines or other essential medical equipment.
• Power Outage Email Updates: If a power outage appears likely to be extended (generally 3 hours or more), we’ll send out a campground-wide email once we’ve had a chance to assess the situation and get essential services up and running. The email will include any available information from Hydro One, and we’ll send a follow-up email once power has been restored.

Our first ever Marshmallow Roast-Off was a success!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our June Seasonal Fire! It was another fantastic evening filled with great conversations, plenty of laughs, and a whole lot of marshmallows.

This year’s (Now Annual) Marshmallow Roast-Off was a crowd favourite, and the competition was fierce! After careful judging (and more than a few perfectly toasted entries), we’re excited to share this year’s winners:

 1st Place: Sheila Site 23! (Prize: Bumper Sticker and T-Shirt!)
 2nd Place: Mike Site 25 (Prize: Canoe Keychain)
 3rd Place: Danielle Site 25 (Prize: Paddle Magnet)

Congratulations to our champions, and thank you to everyone who participated. Whether your marshmallow was golden brown, flaming like a torch, or somehow both at the same time, you all helped make it a memorable evening.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s Annual Marshmallow Roast-Off. Start practicing those roasting techniques now!

New Path to the Washrooms from the Forest RV & Tent Section

You may have noticed the new path between the showers and washrooms. Feel free to check it out! The path now connects directly to the new road, creating a much quicker walk to the washrooms and showers for those late-night bathroom trips for our forest campers.

Seasonal fire postponed

Some of you may have been looking forward to the seasonal bonfire that was originally scheduled for this weekend. However, we realized that this weekend is Father’s Day, so we’ve decided to postpone the event by one week to June 27th.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, whether you’re a father yourself or celebrating one of the father figures in your life. We look forward to getting together with all of you the following weekend for a great evening around the fire! 

 Water System Upgrade Complete

We’ve made some significant improvements to our water system, including the addition of a new water softener as part of a larger treatment upgrade.

Activated charcoal filtration has also been added as another layer of treatment to further enhance overall water quality throughout the park.  

You should notice cleaner-feeling water, less staining, reduced iron and tannins, and a more consistent shower experience throughout the park. The softer water also helps soap work more effectively, which means you may find you need less than you’re used to.

If the water feels a bit different than before, that’s normal. Soft water can have a smoother feel compared to harder water, especially in the shower. You may even find yourself feeling soft and fluffy afterward which is completely normal and, frankly, pretty awesome.

We’re always looking for ways to improve the guest experience, and reliable, high-quality water is one of those things that makes a big difference in day-to-day camping life. We hope you enjoy the upgrade!

 New Road

We’ve recently added a new road between the tenting area and the chalet. While the project is still a work in progress, guests are welcome to enjoy the new route as a walking trail in the meantime.

The new route creates a little extra space to stretch your legs, walk the dog, or simply enjoy a quiet stroll around the park. Along the way, you’ll find a peaceful wetland area complete with a small waterfall and what appears to be excellent turtle habitat.

 Always Improving

If you’ve been here for a while, you know we don’t sit still for long. We’re always looking for ways to improve the park, and there’s already a list of future projects and enhancements in the works. Thank you for being part of the journey as Lazy Rock continues to grow and evolve.

Updates

We have some damage to park roads and a few campsites due to a blocked culvert that never froze before but decided to this year! 

This has caused some erosion in various areas of the park which we are diligently repairing. 

Erosion has affected a couple of seasonal sites if your site is affected we will contact you directly.

We are having a super late start this year in getting the park opened due to the weather but we hope to have all the major items on our list completed before your arrival. 😀

It took years to complete.. literally.. but finally they are done! And look great!

We think the entrance to the park looks so much cleaner and organized now and are super happy we have finally completed this project!

Seasonal campfire dates for 2026 season:
For the 2026 season and beyond we will now be hosting optional events during our campfires!

Campfire dates are always the 3rd Saturday of each month.
